Relay for Life is 12-hour
event that raises not only money, but awareness for cancer and cancer
research. Participants earn donations as the walk around the track, and
may also create their own small fundraisers to earn money during the
course of the event. When Relay for Life is over, all the money is
donated to the American Cancer Society. The organization at Fort LeBoeuf
is responsible for planning and managing the event, and encouraging
local community involvement.
The Fort LeBoeuf students and
their families have raised over $50,000 for cancer research and
awareness over three years. In addition, there are so many random acts
of kindness, and selflessness exhibited by all students just by being a
part of Relay for Life. The effect the event has can truly change a
person for a lifetime.
Fort LeBoeuf hosts the annual 12 hours Relay for Life in September.
